What gets printed in TPU
- Flat gaskets and O-rings, plugs and caps that fit with no play.
- Bumpers, feet and dampers: under a device, between two vibrating parts, at the end of an arm.
- Soft covers and caps for enclosures, cable grommets and bellows.
- Wheels and treads for robots, trolleys and toys, model tyres.
- Spare parts in rubber that no longer exist: feet, hood seals, end caps, low-load belts.
Its properties
Our TPU is medium hardness, comparable to a shoe sole: soft in the hand, firm under load. It resists abrasion, oils and repeated impacts better than any rigid material.
| Property | Rating |
|---|---|
| Mechanical strength | 7/10 |
| Flexibility | 9/10 |
| Heat resistance | 6/10 |
- Heat: stays flexible from freezing to about 80 °C; beyond that, it softens.
- UV and outdoors: lasts several seasons outside; a permanently exposed part eventually hardens a little.
- Water and chemicals: unaffected by water, oils and greases; solvents swell it.
- Automotive: yes for seals, grommets, bumpers and guards away from engine heat.
What a TPU part costs
- 0.40 MAD per gram deposited, density 1.22 g/cm³: at equal volume, it is the weight that changes from one material to the next.
- In stock today: TPU 95A – Light Green.
- An electronics case of 54 g, 4 h 33 of printing, costs 353.80 MAD delivered in TPU, against 178.42 MAD in PLA (+98%).
These figures are read from the catalog and computed by our quote engine when this page loads; every order costs at least 105.00 MAD delivered. The exact price of your part shows on the online quote, and the guide How much does 3D printing cost in Morocco explains where the price comes from.
Designing for TPU
- Walls of at least 0.8 mm; a thinner wall prints, but becomes a film rather than a part.
- Flexibility is designed in: a thin wall bends, a thick wall resists; a bellows or a living hinge needs an even section.
- Small holes and fine details come out less crisp than in PLA; allow clearance on fits, TPU takes its shape back anyway.
- No large overhangs without support: TPU holds a cantilever less well than rigid materials.
